Position available: Veterinary Nurse
Are you an experienced, self-motivated veterinary nurse enthusiastic about the industry and wanting to work in a large team based small animal practice?
A certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing would be highly desirable, however if you have the knowledge and experience from years of dedicating yourself to caring for your clients and patients then we would welcome the opportunity to get to know you further. We need an individual who shares our values in team work, customer service and patient care; has a bubbly personality who is not afraid of a little hard work and enjoys the rewards it brings.
As a practice we are continually evolving with technology becoming an increasingly important part of patient treatment and care. Those who embrace the use of new equipment and gadgets but respect their value are an important part of the evolving veterinary practice.
You would be working a 76 hour fortnight with every fourth weekend. Your hours will include a mixture of day and afternoon shifts, with the clinic closing at 8pm on weeknights. There is no on-call however occasionally there may be the need to stay back to treat an emergency or hospitalised animals.
You will carry out a variety of both surgical nursing, consulting nursing and reception duties including but not limited to front of house customer service; placing catheters, blood collection and bandaging; hospital admission and discharge; general anaesthetic patient monitoring and performing dental cleaning, including digital dental radiology; running in-house pathology. We also value team consulting where you will work closely with your veterinarian in the consult room as well as being heavily involved in client education especially with regards to preventative healthcare for puppies and kittens.
With team consulting you’ll need the skills to develop strong relationships with clients in a relaxed and comfortable way as well as getting on with your patients.
You’ll also experience some variety working at our more intimate practice Ballam Park Veterinary Clinic, only 250 metres down the road, where you will have the opportunity to personally see to the entire journey of each patient throughout the day, from welcoming them at reception, assisting with handling and nursing them through any surgical procedures. Those who demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills should thrive in this position.
You will be paid on salary rather than an hourly rate. Your salary will be awarded based on the qualifications and experience that you will bring to the position. The range for your salary will be $38,000 – $50,000.
